Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are critical to the support of the Midway shelter. There are numerous ways that you can help. Through the work of many who volunteer, the Alameda Homeless Network supports a portion of Midway’s operating budget, $65,000 each year.
To Help
Volunteer to serve on the Mayor’s Fund Raising Committee
This requires a commitment to regularly attend a monthly meeting that involves planning events – creating new ideas – and a willingness to assist in whatever capacities are needed with various events.
Volunteer to serve on the Board of the Alameda Homeless Network
This group meets quarterly with representatives of Building Futures with Women & Children. (the group that partners with the Network to operate Midway.)
Volunteer organizations and church groups prepare evening meals for shelter residents. Backup cooks are welcome.
Persons wishing to volunteer at Midway should contact the following:
Building Futures With Women & Children at 357-0205 x114. Volunteering at the shelter will also require a background check.
